Training and Research
We recognize that everyone involved with Lost Chord, whether musician, the volunteer who supports them or the care staff who ensure the good work they do continues in the residential homes over the month until the next concert, all need top quality training. Lost Chord provide this to ensure our scheme operates the very highest quality- something we now receive national awards for.
The past years have seen an increase in the number of training courses run by Lost Chord. Our training is designed to help carers and volunteers to:
- Identify the skills needed to stimulate the appropriate responses using the media of music and dance
- Help understand the impact of music on the brain and its application in dementia care.
- Explain all recent research undertaken which is relevant to the therapeutic nature of music and those suffering from dementia.
- Assist them in their efforts to help the residents interact with the music.
